Title: 32 instead of 64
Post by: dsherman26 on September 06, 2019, 04:42:58 pm
I guess I was unfamiliar with the Intel Atom N450 on my netbook.  I purged Win 7 without looking to see whether it was 64 or 32 bit.  I assumed it was 32-bit.  Intel's site shows the N450 is actually a 64-bit micro.  So, since I'm running 32-bit PeppermintOS, would there be any significant benefit to putting 64-bit on?

A lot of software is now only being distributed in 64bit (and that's only going to accelerate), but unless you've come across some software that you need that is only distributed for 64bit (such as Chrome / Skype / etc.) then there's little benefit to changing.

Thanks, I went ahead and installed 64-bit.  Seems to have helped Youtube, it was very jerky playing videos but they seem to be working much better now.
