Title: Any thoughts on Stadia?
Post by: JonOfLA on June 24, 2019, 03:57:26 pm
I know its a Google product, so there are several caveats, but I do think that a streaming game service could go a long way towards gaming on Linux. Any thoughts? Anyone else thinking about getting Stadia?

Maybe .. depends if it actually works, but I doubt I'd be an early adopter because there are too many performance/experience variables and unanswered questions.

I'm on a wait and see approach to this. Google isn't the first company to try something like this and none of the previous attempts have been successful.

::)The consensus over on MeWe seems to be; Alphabet's record of dumping accounts, services and hardware so quickly isn't garnering too much enthusiasm. The demise of allo, duo, g+ & soon hangouts, along with the recent announcement to dump tablets is almost too much to bear for even the most devout ggl fanbois....

Good point spence .. I'm not sure what the pricing model would be, but what happens to your games if Giggle pull the plug and it ends up as just another tombstone in the Giggle Graveyard ?

I mean other than YT (and their advertising stuff) they haven't a great track record of being in things for the long haul .. some would argue they're even slowly butchering YT.
