Title: Mouse pointer disappears after returning from sleep mode.
Post by: lunaparadox on April 08, 2019, 07:43:03 pm
good day. So my problem is the pointer disappearing returning from sleep mode. ctrl + alt + f1 then ctrl + alt + f7 brings it back.
that would be fine if it was for me but it's a laptop I'm setting up for my 83 year old grandma. she knows nothing about computers she just wants to watch movies and Elvis videos on youtube so I figured peppermint would be a great fit I could setup ice icons on the desktop setup to go where she needed to be and then she could see what she wanted and thats worked great. but every time she closes the lid then comes back the pointer is gone and she gets frustrated.
the laptop is a toshiba satallite C655D
processor is amd E-300 with build in radeon gpu.
Pretty sure it's a elantech touchpad.
Any one have any clue how to fix this.
thanks.

Hi lunaparadox, My advice would be to change the settings for the display to turn off and not suspend or sleep.

Maybe try the mate-power-manager instead of the xfce4-power-manager .. Andy wrote a tutorial for swapping to the mate-power-manager here:

I'm not saying this definitely will work with the Elantech, but worth a shot .. you can always swap back.

changing power managers didn't  fix the problem and the only way to wake was to press power button. setting to turn off display is a work around that will work until I am back at her house next week. hopefully can find a fix by then. Thanks for the help.
