How do I fix?

You CANNOT fix this .. Support for Ubuntu 13.04 and therefore Peppermint 4 ended some months ago, Ubuntu have not taken down the 13.04 software repositories.

You have no option but to ditch Peppermint 4 and install Peppermint 5 .. the good news is that Peppermint 5 is based on a long term support release so should be good for at least 5 years ;)

Is there no way to upgrade my current installation to peppermint 5 or do I have to totally reinstall?

I'm afraid there's no way to "upgrade" Peppermint 4 to 5 .. you need to do a fresh install.

That said there's nothing stoppingyou copying off your user data .. then copying it back afterwards.
(this can include your your hidden web browser and/or email application folders)

Hi, kevinbanjo!

Don't worry -- be happy! The install process for Peppermint 5 is really very easy. Just do as PCNetSpec suggested. If you also have other OS's installed (other Linux distros or -- dare I say it -- Windo$ (although I find it really hard to understand why people are so reluctant to dump that disaster and move on to an efficient, modern OS)) and wish to keep them, then be alert when it comes to the disk partitioning or else you risk wiping those other installations into "never-never-land".

After doing the back-up of your user data, just install Peppermint 5 in place of Peppermint 4 -- then start enjoying the new Peppermint (for 5 years!!).

If you have any further questions, just get back here and ask again. Peppermint 5 is definitely worth the (little) effort required for the new installation!  8)

-- Slim
