Title: Pep permint 9 32 bit keeps loading as 64 bit
Post by: smo on January 11, 2019, 02:20:54 am
I selected the 32 bit version and downloaded from the official Peppermint website, but when I run Unetbootin the source is always shown as "http//cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/releases/ubuntu-18.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso.

As a result when booting from the usb, I get an Lbuntu installation menu. I tried to install that, given no option for Peppermint. Result on my ASUS eee netbook : "This kernel requires an X86-64CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.

I have tried with a number of usbs....all the same result.

Any ideas ?

Unetbootin is sourcing your ISO from the web and you're getting the wrong one. There's no need to use Unetbootin.

Just right-click on the Peppermint ISO you downloaded and choose Make bootable USB stick.

FYI to the general readership:

For Unetbootin: don't select your distro at the top, intead, use the line at the bottom:  "ISO" and select one that you have downloaded.  This works best in unetbootin.

One tool that is similar to UNetBootin, is YUMI, but it allows to write multiple ISOs to the same USB stick.
It auto-generates a simple boot menu for you, allowing you to select the distro you want to boot with.

I see what they did there...

Very clever of them. YUMI sounds... delicious  :D
