I've never heard of junior-video before but it installs as Kaffeine which I have heard of, I don't see it being a you tube recorder in fact I can't get it to play you tube videos but it can can play TV channels (presumably with a tuner card installed ) it also plays DVD's well.

I don't know exactly what you're looking for but if it's just you tube streaming I would suggest SMplayer which comes with a youtube player (SM Tube) or if you want to download youtube videos i would suggest youtube-dl both are available in the repos

Good luck

If you're looking to downlload YouTube video's I'd suggest you donload this file

For Peppermint 8
https://launchpad.net/~nilarimogard/+archive/ubuntu/webupd8/+files/youtube-dlg_0.4-1~webupd8~xenial4_all.deb

OR

For Peppermint 9
https://launchpad.net/~nilarimogard/+archive/ubuntu/webupd8/+files/youtube-dlg_0.4-1~webupd8~bionic9_all.deb

then double-click it to install.

You'll then find it in the menu at:-

Menu > Internet > YouTube DL GUI

Or, if you're just trying to record videos to upload to YouTube and have them in the correct format, you can record them in any format you want and use Openshot to convert them to YouTube's format. That's what I do. My iPhone records them in .mov format and I convert them to YouTube HD (.mp4 with the correct codec) using that program. :)

I'll have to try that out myself.

Up until now, I've always used browser extensions to accomplish that.
That's the really really really simple way.
I'm bringing this up, because most users coming from Windoze probably go that route.

There are a couple caveats to browser extensions though:
1. permissions. When you click "add to firefox", it will show you the permissions it needs to function - but very often, lots of permissions it doesn't need but wants.  To resolve this, when I search for "extensions"/"add-ons", I open all the ones I am curious about in tabs, I click "add" but I don't confirm - I just leave that list open.  And I compare them all.  I also try to select extensions that have lots of users and 4 stars, because the younger apps tend to be buggy.
2. video download extensions slow down your browser a lot! (because they're scraping the code of each tab for signs of videos to list as available for download)  Disable as soon as you're finished using.
3. also, don't expect to find any extensions to download from youtube for the Chrome web browser, as google owns both.

YouTube DL GUI also gives you a few options too, such as to rip just the audio, or to download them in different formats, or to queue loads of links then download them all in one go, etc.

I did not know about YouTube DL GUI.  I wanted to try it out so I clicked on the Peppermint 8 link. It did not install because I was missing one package. After doing some digging I was able to find a ppa with all the packages needed and get it installed. After looking it over, it reminds me allot of ClipGrab.  ClipGrab installs as an appimage and installs with all the packages it needs. I installed it on my desktop. Then made it executable.  I have used it and it seems to work just fine for my needs. If and when I don't want it anymore I can just delete it and it is all gone.

If anyone is interested you can find it at:    https://clipgrab.org/
PS. It works with Windows and Mac also.

I had installed it on Pepp 9 but when I went to install it on Pepp 8 I had a dependency issue, missing python-two-dict(>=1.2).  :-\

Here's the missing dependency for Peppermint EIGHT:
https://launchpad.net/~nilarimogard/+archive/ubuntu/webupd8/+files/python-twodict_1.2-1~webupd8~xenial0_all.deb
download it, and install it before you install this (again for Peppermint EIGHT)
https://launchpad.net/~nilarimogard/+archive/ubuntu/webupd8/+files/youtube-dlg_0.4-1~webupd8~xenial4_all.deb
let me know if there are any other missing dependencies.

Video download helper plugin for firefox.  If you run across one you cant download, get the additional deb file in the pop up menu.  Save, double click and you can record drm stuff as well

The great thing about Clipgrab is not only YouTube videos, but any music videos you can convert on the fly into mp3 and daily motion videos you're able to download too. Though the world and their wives always go to YouTube, for their daily fix.
