Title: Peppermint 9 shows No Internet But Icon Shows Connected
Post by: chalupabatman on October 19, 2018, 08:09:59 am
I am running peppermint 9 on an old HP Centrino Duo laptop.  I was previously running Lubuntu - but this is so much faster and smoother - LOVE IT!

Issue I am having is that Chromium or Firefox or terminal will just randomly say it can no longer conect but the wifi indicator in the corner shows it is connected.  Only a reboot will resolve this issue.

Is there a system setting or kernal update or something I can do to remedy this?

I take it this is a wireless connection we're talking about ?

Can you post the output from:
Code: [Select]
lsusband
Code: [Select]
lspci -vnn | grep -i netand
Code: [Select]
sudo lshw -C networkand the next time wireless drops out, can you also run:
Code: [Select]
rfkill listand
Code: [Select]
iwlist scanand
Code: [Select]
iwconfigcopy the output to a text file .. do whatever you need to do to get reconnected .. then post the output here

Whilst wireless is working, run:
Code: [Select]
sudo iwconfig wlp16s0 power offto disable power management on the wireless card .. and see if that makes things more stable ?

The above command will NOT survive a reboot (you'll have to apply it at each boot), I just want to know if it makes the connection stable ?
