Can I move the window control buttons (minimize, maximize, close) from the right side of window to the left?

Yes.

Open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
xfwm4-settingsOn the "Style" tab, under the "Button Layout" heading, drag the buttons to wherever you want them .. this will be reflected in any open application widows.
