Title: (Solved) What is the best virtual machine to run under Peppermint 5 ?
Post by: jozefmw on July 26, 2014, 03:09:27 am
What is the best virtual machine to run under Peppermint 5 ?
My computer has an AMD 64bit processor.

The idea is to run Windows 7 in the virtual machine as i daily need some software
which would not run in Wine or  CrossOver

So what is the best virtual machine and most easy to install and to use?

Thank you for a hint.

"Best" is speculative

Best in what way ?

KVM seems to be the quickest and easiest on system resources .. it'a also *probably* translates between the virtual and real hardware better as it's already part of the Linux kernel.

Feature rich would be a toss up between VirtaulBox and VMware, possibly with VirtualBox taking the edge

Out of those 2 VMware seems to take more resources to start a VM but less once it's running .. and VirtualBox is probably slightly easier to use.

All in all I'd probably pick VirtualBox (most of the time)....
