Title: Increase icon size on desktop [Solved]
Post by: Fritz74 on June 14, 2018, 04:24:48 pm
Hello,

as said in the title, I would like to increase the size of the icons on the desktop.

Thanks in advance,
Fritz74

Right click on a blank space on the desktop, highlight Desktop and choose Icon Size.  You'll have three options: Smaller, Normal, Larger.  ;)

I know! But "larger" is too small. "Huge" would be perfect.

I like to put images with quotes and grocery lists on the desktop.

Maybe there is a setting in dconf-editor?

It's the "use-desktop-grid" function of nemo that disables manual resizing of icons (because it wouldn't be able to snap icons of differing sizes to a grid)

Fire up dconf-editor, and go to:-

org > nemo > desktop

remove the tick from "use-desktop-grid"

OR
simply run:
Code: [Select]
gsettings set org.nemo.desktop use-desktop-grid false

Now if you right-click on a desktop icon you should have an option called "Resize Icon" .. select that and you can drag the icon to any size you like by dragging any of the 4 handles that appeared on that icon.
(there should also be a "Restore Icons Original Size" item)

If you want TONS of text under the icons, you may also need to adjust this key in dconf-editor

org > nemo > desktop > text-elipsis-limit

Hi Fritz74,

Glad to see it is resolved for you.

Would you please go back to your original post and click modify and put [Solved] at the end of the subject line.  This will help other users know there is a solution they can try.

Regards Zeb...
