Title: Peppermint 9?
Post by: capngloval on April 26, 2018, 08:20:21 pm
I was just curious, being that Ubuntu 18.04 has been officially released now there will be a lot of distro's jumping to the 18.04 base. Xubuntu for instance already made the jump.

My question is, will there be a peppermint 9 or whatever it would be called, based on 18.04, and when will it be released?

PM 9 will come and it will based on 18.04 LTS.

When will it come? When it's ready [emoji6]
PCNetSpec might give you a more precise date!

Hi capngloval,

It normally arrives a couple of months after the LTS but we don't give an exact date because as pin said, we are more interested in a good reliable stable release than a date.

So sometime in June if all goes swimmingly well.

Regards Zeb...

As the others suggest, probably late May to June sometime, but it depends how things go .. we don't have a fixed release schedule, and only release when it's deemed ready :)

And YES, Peppermint 9 will have an 18.04 base.

Hi guys, I replaced 17.10 with 18.04LTS in one of my partitions and I was disappointed. It was too buggie, I couldn't sign into Chromium or Chrome without having to reboot due to freezing and I installed Gimp from the Software Manager but it wouldn't open files that were linked through symlinks, like ALL of my home folder files. Fortunately, the Ubuntu forum response was fast and I had to uninstall Gimp through the Software Manager and reinstalling it through the terminal, now it works fine. Plus, I don't like the lack of the whisker menu, I guess I'm just spoiled now.  Nothing like Peppermint!
