Title: [SOLVED]: Display Flickering @143.99Hz
Post by: Schyken on December 08, 2017, 05:16:48 am
Hello! To preface this, I should note that my hardware layout will be posted at the bottom of the post.

I've recently installed Peppermint 8 (Respin) on a machine running an AMD R5 1600 CPU and an RX 580 GPU. This is paired with a 144Hz monitor connected via DisplayPort. There is one issue, however. When configuring my monitor in the Display Settings, the refresh rates displayed are a bit odd (50.00, 59.94, 60.00, 99.93, 109.95, 119.98, 143.99). Beyond that, when choosing the highest available option, which falls short of 144Hz by 00.01Hz, I experience flickering when screen events occur. From opening windows to switching webpages, the monitor doesn't flicker to black, but rather, the image itself shakes on the screen. I'm curious as to what I should do to alleviate this issue, and if there's any advice from the community in regards to this. Many thanks in advance.

My inxi -Fxzc0 output.

Thank you for the response! This didn't change anything for me, unfortunately. Apologies if my reply comes late as well. I resorted to a kernel update and it seems it has solved this problem. I'm now using kernel 4.14.4 and haven't seen any of the flickering at any refresh rate. Once again, thank you very much.

(As a side note, should I title the thread [SOLVED] or flag it in some way?)
