Title: Boot issue
Post by: cizz on August 25, 2017, 08:37:11 am
Hi, I am having an issue while booting.  We have several of same computers and so far have tested 6. They all boot properly when first installed (fresh or cloned HD).  1 of them boots properly regularly, while the others have issues. Upon starting get the HP splash, the screen glows for a bit then goes off and remains off until lid is closed and reopened, power pressed to wake and the screen comes back on.  The one working properly gets splash, glows, goes out then glows again and loads.

Have you tried the "nomodest" kernel boot parameter ?

If you're not sure how, just ask.

BTW, welcome to the forum :)

I did try something I found in various forums involving 'nomodest', willing to try again with more specific directions and for discussion purposes.

and THANX for havin me  :D
clic

read back thru forum and found the post I had read about 'nomodest' as a 1 time thing, if i shift after initial flash and enter on peppermint it loads fine ...so possibly an issue with my grub loader? Still seems odd that one of the group work fine (when switching HD around)

Sorry got called away .. I'm a bit confused by your reply, does it mean you HAVE tried nomodeset or not ?

And are we talking about a blanks screen (black but baclights on), or a black screen (black with backlights off) ?
