Title: System Sound question
Post by: Mynaardt on July 08, 2017, 03:19:17 pm
Hi, All!

I have Peppermint 8 installed on both my desktop and laptop.  So far everything has been working tikity-boo.   8)

I decided to enable the system sounds.  Just because.
Haven't heard much in the way of system sounds, though.
Should I download some sort of system sound file?
And if so, how so?

Thanks in advance!

There aren't many system / event sounds by default in Peppermint because of the emphasis on being lightweight.  You might want to check menu > Preferences > Customize Look and Feel > Other and make sure that both Play event options under the Sound Effect heading are ticked.  You can adjust the system sounds volume by right clicking the speaker icon in your panel, then choosing Properties, Run Audio Mixer, and then Playback.  You'll find a sliding scale adjustment there.  There are Ubuntu event sounds you can download but I don't know if or how well they work in Peppermint.
Code: [Select]
sudo apt install ubuntu-sounds  Then create a .desktop file in autostart as per THIS (https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php?topic=846.0) thread (PCNetSpec's post near the end).   ;)
