OK, "Welt" means "World" in German.  Good to know, because "Linux Welt" sounds like something you'd treat with topical cream.  :P

That's really cool.  Without high speed Internet at the time, these magazines were what introduced me to the wonderful world of Linux.  You can get hooked on a distro you may not have tried otherwise, but it was on the DVD, so you gave it a go.  :)

I'm sure Germany is an excellent market in which to be acknowledged. 8)    I wonder what the carryover effect will be for the Linux magazines sold here in the States --esp. at Barnes & Noble.  I know I frequently see a Mint or Ubuntu DVD being offered the Linux publications being sold here.  Could, would, or should Peppermint endeavor to do the same?   :-\

Though I'm sure there are fewer now than there used to be, apparently there are still many Linux users who haven't heard of us yet. :o   That's my own anecdotal observation from participation in Opera's forum.

I imagine the cost to produce the near obsolete DVDs would be prohibitive.  I don't see any significant advantage producing an ISO on DVD would offer.   The large distros like Ubuntu and Linux Mint have multiple sponsors that can shoulder the high costs.

It's not down to us perknh .. it's the magazine that decides what to put on their coverdisk.

Congratulations!

There seems to be a slight trend towards Linux in German speaking countries, maybe caused by people being annoyed by Windows 10 spying on them and Metro in Windows 8. At the moment, the market share is over 3 %:

Agreed !

As much as I hate winders, I still use it for a few things:  win95 on my proxy server, w2kpro on my old archiver (not web facing), winvista on the wife's HP lappy.

I totally skipped winxp, win7, win8/8.1 (not interested) but find '10' rather compelling at some level.

Interesting to see winvista and linux usage intersecting in Deutschland.  Most Yanks don't have a clue how to keep winvista running.

Then, again, I guess you could say the same about Linux ...   ;D

And what level would that be .. the one where you enjoy wearing rubber, whilst being smothered in ice cream and whipped by a very large Soviet shot putter with a cheek scar ?

I think we just got some interesting ideas here for a new YouTube video.  We still need a soundtrack, however, to go with the video.  Any ideas?  Alice Cooper, The Spice Girls, The Macarena, or what?  Remember, this is going to be a Windows 10 commercial.  We've got the look.  Now we need the sound.  ;D

It was either that or "Tool - Stinkfist", but I thought that sent the wrong message.

[EDIT]

Great video though (as always)...

Hey, I got the imagery from you.  I take no credit for it at all.  But, yes, now that I've heard it, Spank will be just fine.

I've looked at Windows 10.  This may sound a little like Pink Floyd, but IF all that you see, and all that you do, didn't become Microsoft's data to do with as they wished, maybe Windows 10 wouldn't be so bad.  BUT you never can own Windows, it's a lease.  And I can't imagine what hidden script is lurking beneath the surface of that OS when you run Windows either?  Microsoft has made Windows creepy, but it wouldn't have to be like this if they decided to change their agreements and policies.

I'll admit I was curious when Windows 10 came out.  I had to take a look at it for myself.  In my case, I don't think it lasted a week on my computer.
