Post by: PCNetSpec on June 02, 2014, 10:43:37 am
Did anyone see Bruce Anstey's record breaking 132.298mph (average) lap of the greatest race on planet .. the Isle of Man TT (Superbike) ?

Here's a 2 minute taster:-

I was surfing thru the tv channels some time ago, stumbled upon Grand Prix motorcycle racing.  Not a real fan of 2 wheel machines; racing and speed do something for me though.

At any rate, leader coming out of curve about 90mph, and punched his Ducati and popped a wheelie .. all in a driving rain.  Fearless.

GP is for girls .. road racing is for guys with depleted uranium nuts .. no run off areas, no gravel traps, just 190mph instant death on the front wall of someone's house if you get it wrong ;)

Bruce Anstey is either a 24 carat nut job, or the bravest guy ever to sit on a bike .. can't make my mind up :)

Don't know too much about the differences between the 2.  Did read an article about how Formula 1 was trying to go back to the road racing here in the states.

Perhaps GP is a bit more predictable as far as the track?

Much. Actual tracks tend to have extremely high standards regarding the quality of the tarmac as well as virtually everything possible to ensure that crashes end up causing as little bodily damage as possible. Roads tend to be a wee bit lacking in these regards. They certainly spruce them up a bit, but still.

Watch the video :)

You don't see houses on the side of a GP circuit ;)

This is flat out on tuned superbikes (now faster than GP bikes) on normal roads

2 deaths at the TT so far this year.... not being morbid, just making a comparison between the dangers of road racing Vs short circuit racing (such as GP).

Bob price on Mondays Supersport race
and
Karl Harris in todays (Tuesday) Superstock race

Didn't I say these guys are either 24 carat loonies, or immensely brave.

The IOM mountain circuit has always been one of the most dangerous courses in the world .. the reason  most GP girlies won't ride it.
