Post by: Banjo on July 13, 2016, 04:55:10 pm

Download this
http://ppa.launchpad.net/atareao/atareao/ubuntu/pool/main/m/my-weather-indicator/my-weather-indicator_0.8.1-0extras16.04.1_all.deb
double-click it, and when gdebi opens click the "Install" button.

Wait until it's finished, and close gdebi

Open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
/opt/extras.ubuntu.com/my-weather-indicator/bin/my-weather-indicatorit should fire up .. once it does, close the terminal (which will cause the application to exit)

Now start it from the menu

menu > Accessories > My-Weather-Indicator

Thanks! The icon doesnt show anything in my panel, but if I highlight it I get my local forecast.

There is also an excellent Xfce4 panel weather plugin.  To install it, run this command in the terminal:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt install xfce4-weather-pluginFollow the onscreen instructions.  When that's completed, right click on the panel and select: Panel > Panel Preferences....  Select the Items tab and then the + from the right side panel.  In the new window scroll down to Weather Updates (external).  Click on +Add.  Click on xClose

The weather plugin will have appeared at the far right of the panel.  The Panel Preferences will still be open.  You can position the plugin by highlighting it in the large left panel and move it with the arrows ⋀ ⋁ in the right panel.  To set the your location and other weather details, go into the weather plugin's preference.  I hope this helps  ;).

There is a gray icon there, but on Linux Mint it actually shows the temp as an icon. No biggie, if I click it, it will show the forecast.

It should automatically show up but it seems to have an issue with Peppermint. I'm currently using the one Andy posted above, and it even updates location to wherever I'm at. As a truck driver I always want to know the weather where I'm at, not just at home.
