Title: HP printer drivers HP2130
Post by: FlyingFox on April 19, 2016, 01:51:45 pm
Have a new printer a HP2130 which needless to say works OK with Windows but no at all with Peppermint.

Anyone any ideas as to how I can find/install drivers please?

Cheers.

Have you done a full system update, and installed hplip-gui and hplip ?
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get updatethen
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get upgradethen
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get dist-upgradethen REBOOT

Once rebooted, run:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install hplip hplip-guithen look in your menu for "HP Toolbox" and add the printer via that.

If it still doesn't find the printer, it may need a more recent version of hplip than the one in the 14.04 repo (google suggests it works in 15.10 after updates), so the good news is it should work "out of the box" in Peppermint 7 .. until then, we can try a more recent version of hplip if necessary (?)

hi, PCNetSpec,

Ran commands as you suggested and the printer now appears in the  printers - local host but I cannot get it to print.

When I try to print a test page it says processing and the printer makes a few mechanical noises but then simply gives up!!

any ideas?

Cheers

Have now tested Mint 17.3 qnd Ubuntu 16.04 and both recognise the printer immediately and also print OK.

Will use one or both of these for the future but will leave P6 on my netbook and try P7 when it is released in the absence of a printer fix at the moment.

Cheers.
