Title: Having fun with a personalized Peppermint 6 login screen
Post by: Capivara on March 27, 2016, 08:34:42 am
So you want another background during login, like me?

First of all, create a .jpg you want to see during login, preferably matching the resolution of your screen. If you use GIMP, use the 'File/Export function'. To make sure your .jpg isn't polluted with EXIF and other irrelevant info, click on Advanced Options, deselect everything  and clear out any text before saving the file. Give your file the name Peppermint-Six.jpg (mind the caps).

Start the file manager and go to /usr/share/peppermint/. Open the directory 'wallpapers' as administrator (right-click on the directory and you will see that option). Copy the original Peppermint-Six.jpg to any other location in case you want to revert to the original background.

Start another file manager session and go to the directory where your new Peppermint-Six.jpg is located. Drag the new background to /usr/share/peppermint/wallpapers/.

Reboot. Mine looks like this now:

There are probably other ways to do this too, this is just one of them.

My login screen has my desktop wallpaper on it.  This is great info to have if you want to go a different route.  :)
