Hi rajeev2631007,

Thanks for reintroducing me to linux.com.  I had forgotten all about the site.

By the way, did you happen to notice that Jack Wallen, in his article How to Choose the Best Linux Desktop for You, forgot to mention the LXDE/LXQt family of desktop environments?  MATE too! :o

Hi rajeev2631007 & scifidude79,

There's no question that Jack Wallen knows about LXDE and Peppermint.  I say this because he's mentioned us before in his writing.  I just think he was so taken by the Deepin desktop at the time that he seems to have forgotten about our style of DE. :(

I read Jack Wallen's articles when I find them, and I think he did a great job describing the DEs that he did mention.  I wonder if he still feels the same way about Deepin now --now that a couple years have passed. :-\

My best guess is that he's more focused now on how the Linux DE will integrate with cloud computing as time goes on (kinda like Chrome OS).  But that's only a guess from reading one of his articles a month or so ago..

I feel the same way as rajeev2631007.  With PCNetSpec, and the entire A-Team of Peppermint forum, I got my foot into the world of computing.  Until Peppermint, and Linux in general, computing wasn't much fun at all.  Now, and I mean this, unless I'm unwell or too busy with other projects, I really do start every day, and end every evening, reading or participating in Peppermint forum.  The people here are the best.  ;)

Deepin desktop does nothing for me, it kinda reminds me of unity which I can not stand...   ::)

Hi rjm65,

I understand, and I see more GNOME in it than Unity myself.  Believe me I know that every DE does not suit every user equally.  It's great Linux offers its users so many choices.  I have never warmed up to KDE, or to Cinnamon either.  :o  I know everybody but everybody loves Cinnamon DE.  I'm such an oddball concerning Cinnamon.  As far as I know, I'm the only person on Planet Earth who doesn't gel well with Cinnamon.

This has to be a character flaw of mine of some sort --one of many I have, I assure you.  ;D
