Title: installing scanner Epson Perfection 1260 (SOLVED)
Post by: damig on April 25, 2014, 05:54:40 am
hi peppermints,
This is my first post, and after expressing my excitement and gratitude for the POS (Peppermint OS) and successful installation of some peripherals, on with the q:
I can bet I saw in the menu somewhere a 'scanner' entry, just like there is a 'printer' one, but there is none now. I tried rebooting with it connected, but it's not recognized-nothing happens, no software awakens, no `scanner` entry adds in the menu. Already visited Epson driver download page for Linux, but choosing the right one is beyond my capabilities at the moment. Can you give me a direction?

Is this a USB scanner ?

Can you open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
sane-find-scanner
and
Code: [Select]
scanimage -L
and see if any scanners are detected.

If not, try:-
Code: [Select]
sudo sane-find-scanner
and
Code: [Select]
sudo scanimage -L

Still nothing .. post the output from:
Code: [Select]
lsusb

  # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

thx guys, it works.
Just clicked `scan` in `simple scan`. It hesitated for the first scan but the next was fairly quick.

You're impressive as the POS is :-)
