Title: Problem with 5.4.0-42-generic Kernel
Post by: Lonnie on August 12, 2020, 11:18:01 am
I upgraded my wife's Dell Inspiron 15 laptop with the 5.4.0-42-generic Kernel. When I rebooted I got the "kernel panic" screen. I removed it and reverted back to the 5.3.0-62-generic kernel and it boots fine. I also upgraded to 5.4.0-42-generic on my HP-Compaq DC5800 and no problem at all. Wonder if anyone else has experienced this problem?

Yes, I've experienced numerous problems using the 5.4.0-42-generic kernel, including kernel panic. Then, again, I run my 64-bit PM machines with UEFI/Secure Boot enabled.

These problems will all get ironed out in PM11, but the best luck I've had, thus far, is by haxoring the (unofficial) PeppermintMG fork. It's actually fairly stable, for a rough alpha.   ;)
