I believe you have the same problem that I also had some days ago. You could have a look:

Cheers.

Have you got anything in mimeapps.list that could be conflicting with that ?

What's the contents of
Code: [Select]
xed ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list

and I take it transmission is what you want to open them with ?

I had switched to Deluge, but since uninstalled that as I was getting the same xdg-open prompt in chromium.

Here are the contents:

Code: [Select]
[Default Applications]
image/bmp=xviewer.desktop
image/gif=xviewer.desktop
image/jpeg=xviewer.desktop
image/jpg=xviewer.desktop
image/pjpeg=xviewer.desktop
image/png=xviewer.desktop
image/tiff=xviewer.desktop
image/x-bmp=xviewer.desktop
image/x-gray=xviewer.desktop
image/x-icb=xviewer.desktop
image/x-ico=xviewer.desktop
image/x-png=xviewer.desktop

image/svg+xml=xviewer.desktop
image/svg+xml-compressed=xviewer.desktop
image/vnd.wap.wbmp=xviewer.desktop
x-scheme-handler/magnet=transmission-gtk.desktop

[Added Associations]
image/bmp=xviewer.desktop
image/gif=xviewer.desktop
image/jpeg=xviewer.desktop
image/jpg=xviewer.desktop
image/pjpeg=xviewer.desktop
image/png=xviewer.desktop
image/tiff=xviewer.desktop
image/x-bmp=xviewer.desktop
image/x-gray=xviewer.desktop
image/x-icb=xviewer.desktop
image/x-ico=xviewer.desktop
image/x-png=xviewer.desktop
image/x-portable-anymap=xviewer.desktop
image/x-portable-bitmap=xviewer.desktop
image/x-portable-graymap=xviewer.desktop
image/x-portable-pixmap=xviewer.desktop

image/x-pcx=xviewer.desktop
image/svg+xml=xviewer.desktop
image/svg+xml-compressed=xviewer.desktop

Yeah, I would like Transmission to be the default application. I know this is the epitome of "first world problems", but just don't want to have another prompt in chromium before opening magnet links.

Thanks a mil.

True!

Apple says Meltdown and Spectre flaws affect ALL Mac and iOS devices: https://goo.gl/gwFqyp

It's in another thread but, here you go.
The only immune cpu's are the raspberry pi's. Some of the AMD's, namely the zen's are, most probably, only affected by Spectre and not Meltdown.

Is this only hitting the Intel processors? I thought AMD ones have the same issue, and even the Apple ones too.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, there isn't time enough for me to experiment with hacks. As for the other suggestions(ALT+Left Mouse Key); I already tried this. I can move the windows left, right and down, but not up, which is what I need.

Which window ?

Because I'm having no problems MOVING a window past the screen edge vertically :-\

No, unfortunately not. In fact, I've discovered that this isn't just the case with this netbook but my full-sized laptop as well.

I was fiddling with the Alt+F8 thing, holding the Alt down, and I found that when the cursor changes to the one that indicates you can change the width of the windows, I can drag the window up and get to the hidden bottom part. Not a solution by any stretch, but it'll have to do in a pinch!

In the meanwhile, if any one has other ideas, I'd like to try them on my own computer later. For now, this netbook is going away with its owner!

Can you somehow grab one corner and reduce the size until it fits the screen?

Once upon a time there was a way to force the intel drivers to allow a 1024x768 (scaled or panning) resolution on a netbooks 1024x600 screen .. I don't know if this would still work, and it was a pain anyway.

Probably the easiest solution would be to just grab the windows that are too large and move them on the screen so you can get at the hidden parts.

You can do this by holding Alt+Lefft Mouse button whilst the cursor is over the active window .. the cursor should change to a fist, and whilst still holding those keys you can now move the window with the mouse/touchpad.

For completeness, here's a link on the old forum about the original hack I mentioned
