(SOLVED) what to do when desktop crash ?

Dear friends,


Sometimes for an unknown reason the desktop crash ... I mean all the icon disapear.


I would like to know if there's anyway to be able to restart the desktop without rebooting the computer ???

Hi manchedepelle,

I believe that you can do that by opening a terminal and entering the following:

Code: [Select]
sudo service lightdm restart
Enter your login password when asked (you will not see anything when you enter it, because for security reasons nothing will be given as onscreen feedback) then press the <Enter> key.

Now, if you are satisfied that your issue has been resolved, please go back to your initial post and click on the "Modify" button, then in the Subject: line add (SOLVED) to the end of the subject so that others can see that this issue has been solved.  ;)
