Is it posible to get a newer version of VLC ?
« on: May 05, 2020, 10:48:41 am »
Hello -
The version from the synaptic package manager seems to be 2.2.2-5 - this version is 4 years old.

According to
cat /etc/lsb-release
I'm running Peppermint version 7, fully updated

Is it possible to get a newer version of VLC ?
Thanks

PCNetSpec elected to remove VLC as peppermintOS' default player as he felt newer versions were getting wonky. In general, there's really little need to move forward just because something is new, unless something about your current install of VLC is broken. That said, there are likely deb versions of VLC available from their project.

You can add this ppa to get VLC 3:

Code: [Select]
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc
