Take That COVID-19
« on: April 29, 2020, 03:25:28 pm »
Another beautiful spring day, in sunny Arizona.

Check the temp. COVID-19 won't survive that for long...   ;D

I think people are starting  to call BS, and ignoring “shelter in place” orders.

I had to run around yesterday, and the roads were the busiest I've seen them in months.

I never heard any shelter in place orders for AZ, would have ignored them anyway... sunshine and heat kills virii... and has done so since the beginning of time

Right! Now the virii will 'shelter in place' in our air conditioning ducts, until next winter.

That's what they've been doing since the beginning of time, too.  :))

Hi all,

Don't know how it is organised or enforced the US.

Here in the UK, Pharmacy and Grocery visits are permitted, with once a day exercise slot (close proximity to your home) with essential workers allowed to work. There is ambiguous guidance to self-employed and other workers who can not do their work from home. Rules are bent or ignored, as peps do their headless chicken thing. With the Fuzz issuing fixed penalty fines, or Police escorts across county lines. One case a family made a 350 mile journey from London to Devon/Cornwall (Mark's stumping ground) to go fishing, were escorted back to London.

I have been slowly recovering from heart failure, diagnosed March 2016, had an ICD fitted in Feb 2017, then in September 2019 picked up a viral infection that hospitalised me. Couldn't breathe. Took several courses of antibiotics and steroids over two months to aid my recovery. My left lung detached because of my heart issue, I'd made steady progress, but the virus has left me with compromised lung function, with Flow Meter reading barely reaching 350 mark. But by comparison to recent health concerns I'm in rude health, with an hours weight training 5 days a week, has been a rocky road since June last year, but now really helping.

Shopping, is not something I look forward to, I also care for my elderly (disabled) father. The queuing is painless, with certain supermarkets being better organised (inside and out) than others. I don't or avoid my local (Morrison) as they permit couples, think peps doing their chicken thing. But at Sainsbury. As else where, the aisles are not wide enough, but in Sainsbury, they only allow single person (no couples), and they seem more aware, plus being an out of town store, you have to make this choice and drive there.

Local Pharmacy, after last months cock up, even after Dad had received his government letter promising his health care. Tuesday when placing my monthly prescription renewal. Both myself and Dad have being placed on the pathfinder scheme, making our prescriptions a priority. Suppose better late than never. LOL....!

Since lockdown I have been experimenting, as I had previously overdosed with distro-hooping. Want a long term OS, that I can install once, in UEFI/Secureboot, and be able to upgrade at each release point. Tried PM10 on my new Dell 7070 mini tower, and got caught out with Firejail, it froze and mullered my system, totally unresponsive, I deleted.

This where the new experimental issues with MOK reared its head. The short version of the long story to delete/rectify unresponsive MOK codes; bricked my 7070. Ouch......! Once the lockdown is over, I'll see if my Dell NDB plan will cover my blunder. Some how both LMDE4 and LM19 neither show mokutil codes, both return blank enrolment, so content the lappies are okay, but a different story for my old box2 desktop Dell 9020, dual booted in secureboot with windies, the omens do not bear well. Only checked if was possible, didn't occur at time, removal would be the problem.

I been surprised to see some members, I considered were part of the fixtures and fixings of PMOS, have not been active, recently.

Hey ho, hope you are all well and doing your bit to avoid the lurgy.   ;)

regards cavy    :D

Grief hits everyone differently, and as I have noted before, very very few men had/have fathers who set a good example...  :(

So some of the guys you felt were fixtures, have wandered away for the moment to process Mark's passing in their own way...  :'(

I wish them well and hope they find their way back one fine day.

@Spence yup, the male EQ. A blessing and a curse in equal measures. We get right occasionally.   ::)

@rayzer the quacks didn't qualify what I had, beyond saying they suspected a unknown virus, it was awful, felt like I was always running a lung busting 400 metre race, after staggering a few yards. A neighbour kindly drove me to the quacks, they called an ambulance. BP was 248/132. I have since been issued two inhalers, preventer and ventolin, but don't have Asthma.

Learning how to breathe again, properly, especially when I was able to do some form of exercise, baby steps after the heart prob, has been the biggest challenge I've faced in years. Then a reset after the virus.   ;)

Heh! Sounds almost identical to what I experienced, last month. Looking back, I jokingly call it, 'The Cold From Hell.'

I hate the medical system, so called. The only time I use doctors is for emergency situations -- things I can't fix myself, like a burst appendix or broken back. I'm pretty attuned to the way my body works. While I don't take any prescription drugs, I gulp so many vitamins, minerals, and so forth every morning, that you wouldn't believe it.

I'm sure I had the Corona Virus. I displayed all of the symptoms -- the weirdest of which was the temperature. I would be working, then instantly light up like a candle. I would sweat profusely, and had an uneasy feeling that I was 'going down' and had better tell someone before I passed out. Then, I'd forget about it, due to the exigencies of my job, and 5 minutes later the temperature was gone, and I was okay until the next time it happened. I must say, I'd never experienced anything like that in my life. I assume it was a ‘cytokine storm’ that miraculously called-off the dogs, before they killed me.

This 'Cold From Hell' lasted for about 6 weeks total. Luckily, I decided to add a couple of things to my supplement regimen -- EGCg & Quercetin. I had already been taking all of the other recommended homeopathic 'cures' for years. I figured adding a couple of more wouldn't hurt.

Anyhow --  I'll be damned. Those two additional items knocked 'it' out of me in a single day. Not suggesting anyone else follow this do-it-yourself protocol.

Just saying...   ;)

Believe it or not, that used to be my favorite remedy for back pain - Bourbon & Aspirin   ;D

I'm a carer support worker who does night shifts seven days on, six and a half days off. It's killing me off slowly as I only get three hours sleep during the day, then up twelve hours at night shift. When I do have my six and a half days off, my sleeping pattern goes back to normal after the third day in. I cannot do days, way too stressful. I used to do a ninety hour shift, when the people first moved here at work. I like to be my own boss here all alone, just nice and quiet and having to stay awake and guide anyone sleep walking back to their rooms. It's this time that I get to answer posts here on the forums, if I can of course.
Not only is Peppermint an addictive OS to use.
But so is this Forum :)

I'm sure hubster and I have both had it... same as we've had many other bugs, colds & flus since we were born. I fight back with Vitamin C... 20,000 to 100,000 mg per day, depending upon how I feel when I wake up.  Quercetin is a daily add on. I don't take any of the drugs my very elderly, out of the loop, doc prescribes. But know better than to tell him so, I just go home and up my dose of Vitamin C until whatever is bothering me goes away.
