Change the dimension of an hard disk partition
« on: April 02, 2020, 06:22:18 pm »
Good evening, Iíve recently installed Linux Peppermint on a virtual machine using VirtualBox.  When I created the virtual machine I dedicated to it 16GB for storage. Now I need to increase it to 32GB.  From VirtualBox Iíve successfully increased the size of the drive. However the VirtualBox manual reports the following sentence:

ďNote however that this only changes the drive capacity. You will typically next need to use a partition management tool inside the guest to adjust the main partition to fill the drive.ď

For this reason Iím here: how can I modify the main partition?
Thank you.

Hi alecarpa,

While I have never used Virtual Box, the best partitioning tool I know of for linux is gparted. With it you should be able to do what the message told you is necessary.
