high CPU Usage

my laptop has high cpu usage
can you guys guide me resolve it?
Sensors:   System Temperatures: cpu: 78.6C mobo: N/A gpu: 79.0
           Fan Speeds (in rpm): cpu: N/A

Sensors:   System Temperatures: cpu: 76.8C mobo: N/A gpu: 78.0
           Fan Speeds (in rpm): cpu: N/A

6-7 year old asus aspire one 725
AMD dual core processor C60
Windows 7 works fine but I thought Linux peppermint 10 will improve performance but not yet...
Hope someone can guide me with this. I have installed Peppermint in 2 laptop hoping for better performance and planning to install on 2 more PC it there is a solution to my problems?

In order for us to help you further, please give us the terminal readout from inxi -Fz... in the meanwhile... have you  blown all the dust and accumuated debris out of the fans recently? 78.6 Celsius / 173.48 Farenheit is way too hot & your processor may be trying to protect itself... Sometimes, it's the simple things...
