Do any of them show up in "Disks" or Gparted?

Also have you tried nano /etc/fstab and
/etc/mtab

??

I rely on these.

i installed Gparted and the SD card as: /dev/mmcblk0  and showed up in the file manager now as cdrom
fstab gave me this
Code: [Select]
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#
# <file system> <mount point>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
# / was on /dev/sda6 during installation
UUID=d575ce05-a635-47a2-a7e1-6ba048eae626 /               ext4    errors=remount-ro 0$
# swap was on /dev/sda8 during installation
UUID=a089ef7d-d280-4614-b791-4d7a99ed7b55 none            swap    sw              0  $

What does the disk utility say about it?

Right; that's what I use... "Disks"

I've got 64 GB Lexar Professional 633x SDXC card drives running in both my Dell E6430 'Road Warrior' laptop & Asus EeePC netbook.

Here's a snappy of my Dell Latitude, showing where to choose the mounting options (at boot):

Is the card formatted? Is there supposed to be anything on it?

Ok so if I am following correctly, the Disks utility found it. I honestly am not good at editing mtab or fstab.

But the main thing seems to be that because "Disks" found it you should be able to use it.

Somebody else might be able to help you with the mount point files.

yes it has the files to boot the peppermint 10 iso

but writing this i thought, try a sd card out of a digital camera and i did.
i could find and mount it  with the filemanager.
so it seems to work.
again tried some other sd cards with different linux distro's and now they show  :o
could it be that some off the updates that came the last week could have fixed it.

but now i can only say it is solved, but don't know how ;)

Glad it's all working @pepperOS .... Sometimes it's best to not question the gift horses of the www... given that there was no "fix applied" ... (resolved) might be the best OP edit...
