Sound settings pannel disappeared (SOLVED)
« on: February 07, 2020, 01:38:47 pm »
Hello,
I am newbie to linux. I have been using peppermint os since past 6 months. The experience has been fantastic as the OS is rock stable.
I cannot find the sound settings , neither in the panel nor in the menu. I get this issue after  updated the software recently.
Is it possible to restore the 'sound settings'  packag  again?

Best regards,
bsr656

After looking over internet for a while, I figured out that the some of the pulseaudio related packages were uninstalled, when I had run some commands to fix the bluetooth connection issue . :)
So now I installed the application by running the command,
sudo apt-get install pulseaudio pulseaudio-utils pavucontrol

But still plugin to add it in the task panel is still missing.
Can anyone tell me how to install the plugins for volume control?

Hi bsr6563,

Check that you have the xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin package installed. If it is not installed then install it with the following command in a terminal:

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin
Then restart the panel to pick up the plugin with this command:

Code: [Select]
xfce4-panel -r
