I have loved peppermint on my Vaio UX in the past,  so decided to run v10 (installed on a 16 GB SanDisk USB) on my Panasonic Let's Note SX1 ( https://panasonic.jp/pc/p-db/CF-SX1WEWHR_spec.html). However,  there is no sound (and speaker is not muted). Playing audio does show the sound bar moving up and down on the settings. I tried LinuxLite live on the same machine, again no sound. Sound works fine on Windows.

I have already tried these (https://itsfoss.com/fix-sound-ubuntu-1304-quick-tip/) with no effect.

The mouse pointer on the touch-pad (Synaptics) is is also very sensitive and stutters/jumps. Also, I cannot find settings to enable circular scrolling (as in Windows).

Any help is appreciated (I am not an expert Linux user).

Thanks

Are you sure your hardware is good? If it is, try tinkering with some settings in alsamixer. If something is muted or set wrong, prefer to fix it in alsamixer. Also, notice in alsamixer if it has detected your sound card. it will be intuitive when you open alsamixer
