Peppermint's future with i386?
« on: January 21, 2020, 03:14:38 pm »
Hi folks, new to these forums (and new to peppermint!), so let me know if i'm not posting in the right place. or if i missed some announcement!

What are peppermint's plans regarding future support of i386 processors?
(it looks like peppermint 10 is based on Lubuntu 18.04LTS, which is the last version* to support i386, losing support in 2021)

https://lubuntu.me/sunsetting-i386/
*technically 18.10 i guess, but that loses support sooner anyway.

Hi tpchuckles,

PeppermintOS is based on the Ubuntu base, which will apparently be dropping further development of i386 versions. Seeing that PeppermintOS has a very small team, it will most likely be impossible for it to do anything different than what the huge Ubuntu organization does in regards to i386 support.
