Install another kernel like low latency or XanMod
« on: January 12, 2020, 02:21:09 pm »
Hello.
I want to try to boost my computer with a new kernel.
I just tried install XanMod but havent reboot yet. (maybe I have to install peppermint again if I mess things upp)

How do I install Linux low latency kernel?

And when the kernel is installed does it auto update?

Hi

Xanmod will have their own instructions that I have followed before.

It is not a default Peppermint Kernel, therefore you will be responsible to ensure it updates.  Xanmod may have already taken care of updates, I can't remember but it will probably not just come through the Peppermint update Manager.

I would recommend installing Timeshift and take snapshot of your system before making major changes, that way if you do screw it up, you can restore the image and be back to where you were.
What was I thinking?
