Fixing Screen Tearing On AMD Processors
« on: December 30, 2019, 02:42:40 am »
Screen Tearing can be a right pain so if you have AMD Processor and using onboard graphics, then this is what you need to do to get rid of Screen Tearing.

In Terminal copy and paste
Code: [Select]
sudo xed /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-radeon.conf

Inside the file window that pops up copy and paste these lines into it all at once.
Code: [Select]
Section "Device"
    Identifier "radeon"
    Driver "radeon"
    option "TearFree" "on"
Endsection

Then save the file, reboot your system and screen tearing will be no more.  ;D

Thanks clatterfordslim :)

This was the only one we were missing here on the forum, I found it in my notes whilst searching on my Linux Notes drive. Nearly 4GB worth of notes I've taken over the years since being in Linux.  :)

There could be a black market for those...   :)

From notes on screen resolutions in grub, Compton file setups for different Desktop Environments, how to setup Wine for gaming, NVIDIA notes galore on setting up dating back to 14.04 days, way before Composition Pipe Line, Arch stuff, Screen Tearing AMD, Intel, NVIDIA. OBS-Studio PPA, Simplescreenrecorder ppa Nvenc setups galore. Even have stuff for Ubuntu 10.04, 10.10. Let alone ISO's galore. Nostalgia in a sense great to have as a lot of it still applies today. A lot of my stuff I had lost including music which would not be able to get again, not even after using TestDisk. The music I had was various artists obscure artists from the 40's and 50's and the song I want to get my hands on? I have no idea what the song is called or the artist, had tried through Google as I know some of the lyrics. The Mississippi river keeps running through my mind. Is the last line of the song.

It goes
Listen (Steel Guitar whining in the background) That's the way the steamboat sounds at night,
Pulling up there in the pale moon light.

Still anyway maybe one day I'll hear it again?  ;D
