"Suspend" on hitting power button issue
« on: December 26, 2019, 06:22:26 am »
Power options have "suspend" set on hitting power button, but when i do that, a pop-up menu shows up with all the options (reboot, suspend, shutdown etc.)

Hi danielson,

Looks like like you should then hit the suspend option. I think that is the way it is supposed to work (at least on my machines it is that way too).

You mean, click menu icon then the little green "logout" button in the top corner with its subsequent drop-down menu?

That's much longer than any Winders10 can do.

In that case, isn't there a hotkey that can be assigned?

This did not resolve my initial post but did manage (after search on da web) to create a shortcut! :)

Open Peppermint Settings Panel/User/Keyboard Settings and added a shortcut with
systemctl suspend
and gave it alt+1 as command.

Hi danielson,

Great!! Thanks for the solution! That is already better.

However, it would be nice if someone could supply us with a way to just permit pressing the power button alone, as you originally stated.  ;)

I'm sure it can be done somehow.
Just not geek enough.

Try this:

Code: [Select]
gksudo xed /usr/share/peppermint/peppermint-control-center/xbindkeys.conf
Find the stanza near the bottom that reads:

Code: [Select]
"peppermint-logout"
    XF86PowerOff

You can try commenting it out (put a # before each line) to see if that makes the power manager setting work. Or you can change "peppermint-logout" to

Code: [Select]
"systemctl suspend"
or something similar.

Hi danielson, so you want to suspend the computer when you click on the power button? How do you want to turn off the computer?
What was I thinking?

Hi alynur,

I think he would do that by selecting the logout/shutdown option from the whisker-menu.
