I'm a distro hopper...

So far, only LinuxMint MATE and Solus Budgie have been basically the most "quiet" on my HP EliteBook 8460p.
Do like latest Peppermint 10 Respin but just don't find it as quiet.
Which leads me to wonder what could be done?
Could installation of 32bit instead of 64bit do the trick?
Never tried that before.

Just thinking out loud.

Yep, 32bit should be installable on a 64bit CPU and should happily live alongside Windows10 .. but bear in mind this will ONLY work if Windows was NOT installed in UEFI mode because 32bit Peppermint is NOT UEFI bootable.

What do you mean by 'quiet' ?

Thanks PCNetSpec - would never have thought it possible.

Even if laptop runs with an SSD and 8G of RAM (but 4G is really its maxed out limit), it is still an old machine.

By "quiet" i mean the intensity of the CPU fan.
On Windows, i know it's the search feature makes it go on (and eventually goes off)
but it varies on the Linux distros. Youtube page open on a tab, even without any video running has an impact there too.

But anyway, i'll take PeppermintOS 32bit out for a drive and see how it performs.
Hope to still install latest Vivaldi.

Did try 32bit but it was too sluggish - (do have Legacy).

So, went back to 64bit and so far so good!
The only different touch i did this time is uncheck shadows on windows.

From a Cornwall, Ontario native (living in U.S.) to friends in Cornwall, UK - cheers to a beautiful distro by the devs and friends!
