Do you know how to add a kernel boot parameter ?

if so adding these 2 parameters:-

pci=noaer pcie_aspm=off

does it install now ?

Boot to the Peppermint LiveUSB .. when you get to the screen where it offers you "Try Peppermint" and "Install Peppermint" ..  hit the "Tab" key

You'll then see some white writing at the bottom of screen that ends with
Code: [Select]
quiet splash --instead make it end with
Code: [Select]
quiet splash pci=noaer pcie_aspm=off -- pci=noaer pcie_aspm=offthen hit Enter to continue booting.

Now see if the installation will finish.

NOTE (further information):-

Adding boot parameters on a LiveUSB BEFORE the "--" delimiter tells the kernel to use the parameter on the Live session, adding it a second time AFTER the "--" delimiter causes it to get added to the:-
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
line of
/etc/default/grub
OF THE INSTALLED OS (should you install from that Live session).

Try this

run:
Code: [Select]
gksudo xed /etc/default/grubfind the line
Code: [Select]
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="pci=noaer pci_aspm=off"and change it to
Code: [Select]
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="pci=noaer"SAVE the file and exit the text editor.

Back in the terminal run:
Code: [Select]
sudo update-grubthen REBOOT.

Did that make any difference ?

Hi sisqonrw,

Do you use/need snap packages? Or samba? If not, then you can also purge those from your system to see if that speeds things up (at least the boot process) for you.  ;)

You might also be able to get rid of the pci=noaer kernel boot parameter now .. but I suspect if you do that you'll end up with your log files growing uncontrollably with error report spam.

But you could temporarily remove it and see if it makes any difference.
