I just upgraded a external drive I boot from using Pepp 7 to Pepp 10. I am using WiFi and it is connecting. On the panel icon for wireless there is a blue block with the number 75 inside. What is this?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

At a guess the 75 **probably** means connection strength.

But you must be using a non-default icon theme (?) .. because the default icons don't do that.

PCNetSpec,

How can I make it normal? I never chose a non default icon.

Something ain't formatting proper like, could you post a photeeograaph of your desktop please?  As there are two types of icon for network, wired which is square ish and wireless is upside downy triangleish.  :) Just out of curiosity what happens when you run in Terminal?
Code: [Select]
/usr/bin/reset-xfce4-panel

Do the numbers represent how many days you have left, before you pay your bill? :)) Or are they part of your IP address? Or is the number calculating the meaning of Life and will eventually get to 42? :)) Either way they ain't meant to be there. A puzzling puzzle I agree.

Claderfordslim,

When I ran your terminal command; I lost my panel icons. Not what I wanted to happen.

Try using
Code: [Select]
xfpanel-switch
to reset the panel
(which is really the same thing as clatterfordslim's command should do)

If that doesn't work, you must have had a broken system to begin with.

And if you want to post a screenshot, you can't just link to a file on your local PC .. you need to host it online somewhere, such as IMGUR.com and then post a link .. see here for instructions

Was this the number you're referring to under the wireless icon the number 75 yes   ???  but I found it if you have any of the Pepirus Icons  set as your icon theme and your panel size set between 31 and anything upwards it appears, lower the panel size to 30 or anything below it disappears. The illusive 75, why are you there? Where did you come from? Why under this particular icon theme and no other? Or are you under any other? Answer no you ain't. Picture below of Pepirus Dark with the number 75 underneath, if you dare to open the spoiler and see the shocking picture of 75   ???  :-\ Weird that's all I can say. Try it for yourselves raise the panel size up past 30 make sure you're using any of the Pepirus icon sets. It's strange I have never ever seen this before.  Quick Update This only works if you're using WIFI if you're plugged into your router as I am here at home it does not do it.

Ahh yes I see it now, thanks clatterfordslim .. yeah I'd assume that's just the signal strength.
(AFAIK it only does 0/25/50/75/100 .. so I'd assume most people will get 75)

I'll look into this more when I have time .. it shouldn't be hard to get rid of if that's what you want, would likely just mean removing/editing some overlays in the icon set.

So it is the signal strength, yeah had to be something I never seen it before and only noticed whilst mucking around last night. Though for a lot people who don't bother increasing their panel size and have their desktop as default, it should not affect them? It was this question from GEMS that made me curious into seeing what he meant.  :D

Gentlemen,

We now we are getting more to the answer. I have the panel size ( vertical ) set to 45. Interesting that beyond a certain value it shows the signal strength. Thanks. I guess we all learned something.

Yep we sure did, over 31 is when the 75 signal strength shows in panel size and it is only Pepirus icons that do it and another and only on wireless.  8)
