Wi Fi connection of Peppermint 5 disappearing
« on: September 01, 2014, 03:42:38 pm »
Hi

For some reason tonight, my home routered wifi connection on my AA1 ZG5 has disconnected twice, and then when you try and reconnect, the home network does not appear in the drop down list although others in the neighbourhood do. Moving the AA1 nearer the router, or restarting the router and modem, made no difference

Rebooting the machine regains the connection, but it seemed to be back up for about 20 minutes before the connection was lost again. My mobile phone had no network dropout in this time, so I'm wondering what is happening. There was a 60mb software update a couple of days ago, could this be responsible?

Thanks

My zg5 is fine, so I doubt if it was anything in the updates .. have you tried restarting the router ?

actually when ifirst installed peppermint 5 the wifi cut out too and disappeared from the panel but than reconnected but i could not see
the percentage or icon in the panel. I actually made a brand new user account and deleted the old one and have not had this issue since
im 99.9 % sure it was something wrong I did that made this happen.

Restarted router and ZG5...until the connection is lost (or not) I don't know if this has worked or not. My mobile is backing up pictures and wondering if this is hogging the network, shouldn't cause connection to be lost though

is this a laptop? if so maybe go to a coffee shop or friends house with wifi and see if you can smoothly
connect to another connection for a bit to see if its actual your computer's hardware or if it has something
to do with your router ? im in not shape or form an expert but might be a simple way to check that.

It *can*, but as you suggest, I'd not expect it .. if networkmanager hunts for a wireless beacon and the router is too busy to send one, network manager would interpret this as a dropped connection.

Have you tried deleting ALL wireless profiles in networkmanager .. then recreating ?
