usb connected huawei phone does not show in file manger
« on: November 17, 2019, 12:17:46 pm »
I'd like to transfer some files from Peppermint to my Huawei phone.  When I connect my phone via usb to peppermint the phone data storage does not show in  file manager. I'm not prompted to select data transfer on the phone.
Thanks for any help.

have you got mtp tools installed?

Code: [Select]
sudo apt install mtp-tools

you should be asked to enable mtp transfer mode on your phone and then mount in your file manager

I tried your suggestion but still nothing happens when I plug in the phone.

I came across info regarding using KDEConnect app and GSConnect Gnome software. Would that work on Peppermint?

Thanks

If you plug in the phone

a) does a message appear on the phone asking you whether to allow the connection ?
and
b) if you open the file manager, is the phone listed in the left-hand pane ?

kde-connect **can** be made to work in Peppermint, but if your phone is refusing to connect I'd assume the problem will exist in kde-connect too.

a) No, the phone does not display a prompt, or acknowledge the usb connection.

b) No, the phone does not appear in file manager.

Thanks

Are you 100% sure you're using a data cable (and not just a power/charging cable) ?

Have you enabled USB Debugging mode on your phone ?
