Unable to install peppermint 10 on acer aspire one (SOLVED)
« on: November 16, 2019, 12:31:50 pm »
Hi,
First of all, sorry for my english.
I am trying to install Peppermint 10 on my notebook, Acer Aspire ONE 725 (Processor: AMD C60 64 bits, RAM: 4 GB, Graphics adapter: AMD Radeon HD 6290)
and I get a black screen with      do_IRQ: 1.55 No irq handler for vector  and ^[[D^[[D^[[D^[[D^[[D^[[D^[[D....
I tried to install peppermint from an usb drive and from an usb CD player and I also try Peppermint OS live.
I hope someone will be able to help me.
Thanks

Do you know how to add the:-
nomodeset
or
radeon.modeset=0
option to the kernel boot line ?

Boot the LiveUSB or LiveDVD, and when you get to the "Try Peppermint / Install Peppermint" screen, hit the "Tab" key.

some white writing should appear at the bottom of the screen that ends with

quiet splash --

change that to end with:-

quiet splash nomodeset --

and hit "Enter" to continue booting.

did it boot this time ?

is the screen blank (as in a black screen but the backlight is still on) .. or is the backlight completely OFF ?

and can you boot to the LiveUSB (using the earlier fix again) and post the output from:
Code: [Select]
sudo fdisk -l
and
Code: [Select]
blkid

If you mean

Code: [Select]
do_IRQ: 1.55 No irq handler for vector

it seems safe to ignore and is just a kernel message .. not an 'error'.

So it's booting normally now, or are you still unable to boot with a black screen ?
