Hi smitla,

Please be patient. You asked your question just yesterday evening. The PeppermintOS team is quite small and few of us are experts with network or bluetooth issues. I am sure that you will soon be helped by someone who is such an expert (unfortunately, I am not one).  ;)

Can you connect to your router with an ethernet cable whilst we download and install some drivers ?

If not, STOP HERE and let us know.

If so, do so, then carry on below....

FIRST you need to disable SecureBoot in your BIOS .. the driver you're about to compile (via dkms) is NOT signed and will therefore not work with SecureBoot enabled .. so the first thing you need to do is reboot, enter your BIOS, disable SecureBoot, save the changes to the BIOS, then boot back into Peppermint.

Once SecureBoot has been disabled and you've booted back into Peppermint, (with an ethernet connection to your router) open a terminal and run these commands in sequence:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install bc module-assistant git dkms build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r)
then:
Code: [Select]
mkdir ~/rtl8821ce
then:
Code: [Select]
cd ~/rtl8821ce
then:
Code: [Select]
git clone https://github.com/tomaspinho/rtl8821ce
then:
Code: [Select]
cd ~/rtl8821ce/rtl8821ce
then:
Code: [Select]
chmod +x dkms-install.sh
then:
Code: [Select]
chmod +x dkms-remove.sh
then:
Code: [Select]
sudo ./dkms-install.sh
If all that completed without error .. REBOOT

Once rebooted, does wireless now work ?

If not, does it spring to life if you run:
Code: [Select]
sudo modprobe 8821ce
?

That .conf file shouldn't be there (and also has a syntax error)...

did you create that .conf file in an earlier attempt to get the card working ?

what's the output from
Code: [Select]
cat /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8'92ce.conf
and if that command fails, what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
ls -a /etc/modprobe.d
?
