Split view/tile left-right on PM 10 (like on ubuntu) (SOLVED)
« on: November 16, 2019, 02:22:50 pm »
I have been looking around keyboard shortcuts/google on how to do this on peppermint os. However, can only find this https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php?topic=5705.0#top, and it still cant solve my needs (doesnt work for me)?
Is there a way to do something like this? Thanks!

In ubuntu, when I open a terminal or browser, then press super+right or super+left, it will automatically fill the right, or left-half of the screen. I cant find how to do this on pm10, there is a tutorial on how to do it on pm7 that i googled from this forum, but it didnt work for me.

Okay haven't time to write a full length turtorial .. but if you run:
Code: [Select]
xfwm4-settingsyou can set keyboard shortcuts for tiling in there (on the Keyboard tab)

Just be careful the keybindings you set don't conflict with any already on the system .. and this rules out the super key as the ONLY key modifier.

So you can't have say:-
Super+Up Arrow
Super+Down Arrow

etc.

but you CAN use the super key AND another key modifier (that stops super just opening the main menu) .. such as:-
Ctrl+Super+Up Arrow
Ctrl+Super+Down Arrow

etc

If your xfwm4-settings are blank on the Keyboard tab .. let me know.
