Hello, tryed in ubuntu bugie and Manjaro os... the problem is the same...

Okay let's create an xorg.conf file .. then later we can add a new modeline to it.

First write this bit down because you'll be without a GUI for a while.

Hit Ctrl+Alt+F2 (to drop to a console)

at the text console, log in.

Once logged in, run:
Code: [Select]
sudo service lightdm stop
then
Code: [Select]
X -configure
(that's a capital X .. a space .. then -configure)
then
Code: [Select]
sudo service lightdm start
and you should be back at your desktop.

Can you now post the contents of
Code: [Select]
xed ~/xorg.conf.new
WARNING: You are logged into reality as 'root' .. logging in as 'insane' is the only safe option.
