yup,
seems to be the case, spans across both screens and the X server shows 2 screens with all the info being proper.

excellent now we get it to auto run at start up

go to Menu > Settings and then click Default Applications for LXSession

The window will open and click on Autostart on the left - you should see this

just to the right you will see the +Add button and I have put in the box - start typing here

copy and past the following

Code: [Select]
/home/zeb/nvidia-start.sh

please change zeb for the name you use to log in with

and then click the + Add bit

This should then run each time the system starts and hopefully fix your woes whilst we maybe find out the real reason it is happening.

ok, added it in, and going to reboot to test it out.

I'm not sure if it's something I did, or installed or what have you, it seems fairly drastic for saving a monitor setup, which by the looks of it should be fairly simple and straight forward.  Could be just my own inexperience messing around with the nvidia driver stuff initially when I first installed it. *shrug*

Gonna reboot now and get back to you.

you are right - it is over the top - but without knowing each step you took and without asking you to re-install the OS and try again - it is very difficult to diagnose and fix. For me at least.  What is causing your saved settings to be over written I do not know.

On my system - what you initially described just worked and until Nvidia messed up their drivers one day - I was not even aware we could do what we have just done.

One final request.  If after a couple of days you are ok that this is working as stated could you go back to the very first post you made click "Modify"  and put [Solved] at then end of the Subject line

That way - people who may have similar problems will know there is a solution in here.

Regards Zeb...

To double down on this  - this will work on most Linux OS's as they are very generic Linux Commands or specific to the Nvidia drivers.  The only thing that will chang eis how you get the particular Linux Distro to run that script at start up.

Yup, I'll mark it as solved for you, it'll work for me, and I may end up doing a reinstall later on down the road as I become more comfortable and see if the issue persists for me right out of the box.
TY so much for the assist, I wasn't finding anything as I don't think it's really that common an issue to not actually work. :P
