Microsoft blocks Catalan protest app on github

I'm getting a bit f***ed off with the squeeze on democracy lately.

Not that this'll make the app disappear, but the utter and open contempt politicians (and their agencies) are willing to show for their own citizens and democracy lately is astonishing to say the least.

Whether you agree with what the protestors are protesting about is not the issue .. since when did 'communications apps' become illegal.
(as well as rights to peaceful protest, I mean even if the protests aren't peaceful it's not the app that's at fault)

Slippery slope here Microsoft/Github .. how are you gonna feel when they use this as precedent to ban Skype or Github itself because it suits their narrative to do so.

Slippery slope here Microsoft/Github ..

It sure is, PCNetSpec; it sure is.  Could Spain's government be putting the squeeze on Microsoft?  Or is Microsoft putting its toes in the water here in order to see what it can get away with?  Could this seemingly small act one day serve as a dangerous precedent for the suppression of future dissent movements?  :(

Good eye, PCNetSpec -- that you spotted that.
[T]here are a lot of people happily running Peppermint ICE which hasn't been receiving ANY updates for a while now .. and I personally would STILL consider that MUCH more secure than any version of Windows with up-to-date AV/Anti-malware ;)

If you can keep your head while all around are losing theirs then you're not quite grasping the situation
