I gather Google also do an emulator in their SDK but if you're asking if android apps will run NATIVELY, then I'm afraid not .. it will require emulation.

You could run androidx86 in a VM or Dual boot for apk's, I don't know how well it works I've never used it

I tried android-x86 on an aspire one a few years ago .. ran quite well, though a pain without a touchscreen.

I tried running androidx86 on my desktop but it didn't work too well, plus I couldn't ubderstand how to get some of the vm functions to work. Maybe if I knew more of what I was trying to do, I might have been more successful.
What was I thinking?
