Let me start by saying I have been on Peppermint since 7.  However, I am having an issue with Pep 10 in that the trackpoint middle mouse button has not worked on 2 of my Thinkpad installs.

T400 with Pep 10-64 has a disabled middle mouse scroll button and does not paste.
Z60m with Pep10-32 has a disabled middle mouse scroll button but it does work for pasting.

I am writing this on a T500 with Pep8R and also have another T500 and T61  running Pep9 flawlessly.

I am looking forward to the Pep 10 respin but would like a solution before upgrading any more laptops.

I'm kinda lost about what you're saying here....

What is a "middle mouse scroll button" on a trackpad ?

Are we talking about a mouse here ?

Or are you referring to the TrackPoint nipple between the GHB buttons on the keyboard ?

I apologize for the confusion.  My question was not for an external mouse but the integrated thinkpad trackpoint device which has 3 associated mouse buttons.   These buttons are positioned above the trackpad and below the space bar  with the middle button directly underneath the nipple.   In normal functioning, that button behaves as a scroll button or for pasting.

The T400 laptop was for my son who mostly uses a touchpad but whenever I try and use that laptop it drives me crazy that the middle button does not function as it should as I do not use a touchpad as easily as the trackpoint.

I followed some suggestions (combined results from 2 similar webpages)  to create an xorg.conf file using an "evdev" driver script but that disabled the trackpoint completely and luckily the trackpad still worked so I deleted that .conf file.

Since there does not seem to be any good suggestions on google, I thought I would try my luck on the Peppermint forum.

Both laptops are fresh peppermint 10 installs with no tweaks applied.

I look forward to any ideas on how to troubleshoot and correct this issue.

I solved my problem with the middle button of the trackpoint :-[

Since Peppermint 9 and 8 were working fine and all google had to offer was explanations about how evdev controlled the mouse functions, I decided to search Pep 9 for the term "xorg.conf".

I found several .conf files at the following location:  usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d  and there was a file named 11-evdev-trackpoint.conf.    I copied that file from my Pep9-64 bit and pasted it onto my Z60m Pep 10 32 bit laptop and rebooted.

The trackpoint middle mouse buttons on Pep 10 finally worked!

Please make sure and include this file in the upcoming Pep 10 respin.

Hopefully this will help some one else who likes to use the trackpoint over the touchpad.

Thanks for providing the solution, I'll bung that file in the respin :)
