Are you up for trying a different version of Peppermint that has some tweaks specifically for cherrytrail CPU's ?
(may also sort out your audio)

If so, try this one
https://peppermintos.info/pm9r-testing/Peppermint-9-20190102-32bit-efi-amd64.iso
MD5: a1b0731db64976b62c23f299efcbb5cb
SHA256: 9f17afefe2ef5d1bd98d53ad0682f1f1b1edb3a3d12b8b77faeb18db3e844cb8

I know it's Peppermint 9, but if it performs well we can upgrade it to Peppermint 10 following this tutorial
https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php/topic,8442.msg86655.html#msg86655

Thanks Mark!
I did write this iso as a bootable stick, but for some reason, it is not recognized during boot.
I had the same issue with Peppermint 10 installation, and had to disable Secure Boot.
However, the changes doesn't seem to have any effect with this image.

Mark,

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

I believe it was Cinnamon.
The current issue I have is bootable USB is not even detected during boot.
I tried images of Peppermint 9 that you provided, in addition to Linux Lite (regular & UEFI), but none are detected.

Thanks!

Mint 18.3 was based on 16.04.3 .. and according to this
https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_sylvia_cinnamon_whatsnew.php
shippped with the 4.10 kernel series.

Maybe you should try Peppermint 9 which has the 4.15 kernel series (as opposed to Pep10's 5.0 kernel series).

If Pep9 works, you can manually upgrade it to Pep10 (but keep the 4.15 kernel) by following these instructions:
https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php/topic,8442.msg86655.html#msg86655

Might be worth just trying it on a LiveUSB first though.

Unfortunately, as mentioned in my earlier post, bootable stick is not being recognized.
I tried with Peppermint 9 regular version as well as UEFI, but it's not recognized during boot.

In windows, I was able to do this through UEFI restart. Not sure how to enable that option in Peppermint.

Thanks again for your continued help with this.

As Alynur is suggesting .. if you already have Pep10 installed

a) In Peppermint 10 use USB Stick Formatter - to format the USB stick.

then

b) In Peppermint 10 use USB Image Writer - to write the ISO image to the USB stick.

both USB Stick Formatter and USB Image Writer are in the main menu of Peppermint 10 (under the System category).

Personally I've never had those two apps fail to make a working LiveUSB .. hopefully you'll have the same experience :)
(he says, hoping he's now not jinxed the whole thing)
