usb keyboard and mouse not responding on login screen
« on: October 22, 2019, 10:47:31 am »
Hello !

I am a new Peppermint 10 user, jumped from linux mint, so I have a little bit of experience with linux, but otherwise I am what you would call an average computer user. Today ,when booting up my machine, I got stuck on the login screen, because neither my mouse, nor my keyboard was responding.(After a few second, the cursor on the login page stopped flickering too) First I suspected the batteries, but wen I put in the live-usb, I have isntalled the OS from, or when I tried to get into the boot menu, they worked just fine. I was able to restore my system from said live-usb , with timeshift, and everything is seemingly fine, I just want to know, what happened, in case it comes up again. I am not experienced enough to troubleshoot such problems, besides using timeshift.  I usally don't poke things, if I don't know what they do, but  I don't put it behind myself, I have done some big noob oopsies in the past, because I felt so damn brave.  ( I am using two monitors btw)

I don't know , if any of this system information helps.
Thank you for your help, I am enjoying my time with this OS.

Hi MaximeG and welcome to the forum :)

Honestly I have no idea what happened, and even if it happened again it'd be hard to troubleshoot without a mouse/keyboard.

I take it these were WIRELESS USB KB/Mouse ? .. if so, it would have been interesting to know if a WIRED USB KB/Mouse worked (if so it'd point to hardware .. if not, it'd point to either hardware/BIOS or possibly USB driver).

Oh yes wireless, I forgot to add that word. Honestly , this just made me realize that I have to buy a mouse and keyboard that are not wireless, just in case.
